WHERE WE ARE

How to Get Here

Sophie Lake Retreat is located in Eureka, Montana. Our property is nestled into eight acres of residential forest land peppered with ponderosa pine and aspen groves. We are 8 miles from downtown Eureka, 5 miles from the Canadian border, and 6.5 miles to breathtaking Lake Koocanusa.

AIRPORTS & TRAVEL TIME

Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) is a 71.2 miles (~1.5 hour drive) to Sophie Lake Retreat. The airport is located in Kalispell, just 12 miles south of the town of Whitefish (which is on the way to Eureka) and 30 miles from the West Entrance of Glacier National Park. There are several rental car companies located in the terminal, as well as outside of the airport.

THE DRIVE

Wherever you are coming from, there will be a drive involved. However, driving through Northwest Montana is one of the best parts about coming out here. Once out of the city you are traveling from, enjoy hours of beautiful open road.

From Kalispell (FCA Airport) — 1.5 hours

It's a just a few turns out of Kalispell and through Whitefish, and then most of this drive is a straight shot through beautiful Stillwater State Forest. Driving directions via Google Maps.

From Sandpoint Idaho (Via US Rte 2) — 3 hours

If you're coming from west of Montana, the final three hours of your drive will take you from Sandpoint through Bonners Ferry, Libby, and a final stretch through the Kootenai National Forest along Lake Koocanusa. Cell phone service is sparse along this section of the drive, so be sure to be prepared for that. We recommend being alert for wildlife at all hours of the day, but especially near sunrise and sunset. Driving directions via Google Maps.

THE GROUNDS

We are perched above the north (quietest) end of Sophie Lake, which has less than 20 other residences directly on the lake as we are.  The property is shaped just as the map is, and we have neighbors to the north and south of us, divided by a fence and trees. Get acquainted with the retreat grounds via the map below.
